Momma's Corner

Who it's for

For the person who works hard, has a lot on their plate, worn down by the rhythm of the day. Someone for whom even a short break should mean quiet, not one more decision to make.

What I thought about

Momma's Corner had to be that person's quiet corner, not just a café online. I chose warm, calm colours, so anyone landing on the site would feel the warmth of home right away. I kept the structure simple, with no clutter — someone who's already tired doesn't need to make hard decisions just to find what they're looking for. The copy was written with one idea in mind: wherever you are, Momma's Corner feels like home, a small comfort for homesickness.

What I learned

On this first project, I didn't think about speed at all. I just wanted something warm and welcoming, that was it. It was only later, testing it, that I discovered how slow it really was: 62 out of 100 on mobile.

That's when I learned how much speed matters, especially now, when people rarely wait more than a few seconds. I went back over the images, cut their weight without losing quality, optimised the fonts and how the page loads. The score climbed, step by step: 62 → 78 → 91.

It wasn't right the first time. But every step showed me exactly what needed fixing, and the final result proves it.
